The secrets urine can tell...

Whether you call it aqua, H2O, wasser, or l'eau, this stuff is just plan good for you.

Did you know that 43% of adults drink less that 4 cups of water per day? That isn't much and certainly not enough to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

What your urine can tell you...

Our urine tells us a lot about our bodies. If it’s a darker yellow, it means our kidneys are over-concentrated with toxins and our cells need more hydration.

Every cell in our body depends on water. Water flushes out toxins as well as fat and is essential for organ function. Keeping the body fully hydrated is also essential for heart health. When the body is dehydrated, the blood becomes thicker causing resistance to blood flow. This, in turn, elevates our blood pressure and leads to a rise in cholesterol and blood pressure.

Dehydration can also lead to many other types of health concerns, such as increased risk of obesity, Type II Diabetes, high blood pressure and even cancer. Yikes!

How much is enough?

There is a lot of debate about how much water to drink daily. To effectively hydrate and flush your system for optimal health, drink half your body weight in ounces per day. So if you are 150 lbs you would drink 75 ounces of water per day. I know that sounds like a lot but it is a simple way to get closer to your health goals. Here is a great app to help keep track of your daily consumption.

Something else I found to be interesting is that headaches are often caused by dehydration. When the pressure in your blood vessels drops, it makes it harder for the heart to pump enough oxygen to the brain, which can result in a headache.

Skin and water.

Have you ever wondered why your skin feels dry and is lacking in elasticity? It’s most likely a cause of dehydration! Drinking water helps you maintain a youthful appearance and keeps the skin looking beautiful, young, vibrant and glowing (along with AMAZINGLY healthy products like ours :)!

Want to know another interesting fact?

Drinking water on a regular basis helps speed up our metabolism and makes us feel more “full” while promoting good physical, mental and emotional health. It is best to sip water throughout the day rather than gulp it.

There just isn't a down side. Right?

Here are a few things to think about...

Get an awesome water bottle.

Really. It helps make this hydration journey SOOOO much better. Confession time, I may have a water bottle hoarding issue. Not really but I have tried almost all the glass and stainless steel water bottles on the market.

Add lemon to your water.

Fresh lemon in your water helps detox your body, rejuvenate the skin, increase your vitamin C intake, boost energy and mood plus aids in weight loss. It also makes water more alkaline which is REALLY good for you. In our home, we make "lemon tea." It virtually warm lemonade only sweetened with honey. All you need is warm water, the juice of 1/2 or 1 lemon, some honey (optional) and your favorite mug. There's something about holding a warm mug of something. Why not make it lemon tea. Your body will love it! Need I say more?

Guzzle upon waking. Sip during the day.

Upon waking, guzzling 16 -24 oz. or more of water helps to clean out your system and awaken digestion. It also gets things moving in the morning if you know what I mean. Sipping throughout the day helps to actually hydrate your body and prevents too many visits to the bathroom.

A Handy Little App to help you stay on track {that kinda rhymes}.

Again, here is a great app that helps to keep track of your water intake each day.

We never add water to our products (learn why here) since it is better to drink water rather than add it to skin care. So drink it up!

Are you a consistent water drinker? What tips can you share?
